Yellowcard just wrapped up a month-long tour in promotion of their fall album release, Lift a Sail. They played in Orange County at The Observatory on Saturday, joined by their long-time friends Finch, and Virginia natives The Downtown Fiction.
The band has come a long way since their early days in Jacksonville, Florida. Frontman Ryan Key reminisced about how the band’s first ever sold out show was in Orange County; fifteen years later, they have played countless sold out shows and have seven studio albums.
Their set began with the first three tracks of Lift a Sail, followed by 2006 hit single “Lights and Sounds.” Ryan went acoustic during “One Bedroom,” the first single from Lift a Sail, and guitarist Sean Mackin even put down his violin to fill in on guitar.
After the ballad “California” with Ryan solo on keyboard, the band played a three-song encore: “Fighting,” “Way Away,” and “Ocean Avenue.”
