This is the second blog post in a series of posts from my trip to San Diego last weekend.
The neighborhood I was staying in is called Pacific Beach. On my last day in San Diego, we made our way down to the main beach for breakfast at Kono's Cafe, a walk on the pier, and some exploring around the beach town.
Eating breakfast on a sunny pier on a January morning? Nothing better than Southern California.
This past weekend, I got the chance to visit the beautiful San Diego. This is the first of a series of blog posts from my trip there.
These photos are from Belmont Park, in the Mission Beach area of San Diego. The wooden roller coaster is called the Giant Dipper and was built in 1925.
For some reason the park was not in operation for the day, so no one was on the rides, but I like the photo opportunity it provided for me!
On December 28, I got to cover Circa Survive's show at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. I was shooting for BAMF Media, and did a write-up as well, which can be viewed here. I photographed Anthony Green solo in Pomona about a year ago, but this was the first time I had the opportunity to photograph him with Circa Survive.
I'd never been to the Shrine before, so it was incredible to see the place capped off at 5,000, most of which were on the floor in GA standing room. The show was being filmed for a live DVD, which made things even more exciting.
My photo pit experience entailed avoiding a rolling video camera on a track right in front of me, dodging a constant stream of crowd surfers, and manuevering around the other photographers and security guards, all with a 70-200 lens and a camera bag on my shoulder.

This one is probably my favorite. As you can see, the lighting was fantastic.

I can't believe the ridiculously gorgeous lights here - strangely, it reminds me of the default Mac wallpaper.
