Carolyn and Derek met in the 7th grade. Seventh grade! Or to be precise, "a nerdy summer camp type thing right before 7th grade," as they put it. They spent the following years as close friends, as a couple, and then finally were engaged in 2013. Their wedding was absolutely beautiful - a gorgeous venue, surrounded by friends and family, and full of cute little quirks (Dinosaur centerpieces? Superhero cufflinks?!) that define them as a couple. My favorite part of all, though, would have to be inclusion of loved ones and their musical talents!
As guests filtered into the venue, Derek's sister Caitlin (who was also one of Carolyn's bridesmaids) sang a powerful version of a song called "Paper Boats." As Carolyn walked down the aisle with her father, Derek and his former vocal studies classmates sang a barbershop quartet rendition of The Beach Boys' "God Only Knows."
When the reception came around, a talented singer-songwriter friend, Caleb Feulner, teamed up with Derek to play a heartwarming arrangement of Imagine Dragons' "I Bet My Life," as a surprise to Carolyn. Following that, the newlyweds had their first dance to "Remember When" by Alan Jackson, which was sung by groomsman Blake.
From the adorable father-daughter dance to "My Girl," to the Maid of Honor's personalized wedding toast for her toast, this day was all-around genuine, full of love, and a fantastic time!
Carolyn and Derek, thank you for choosing me to capture your special day - it was my pleasure to be there!
